Head of Lower School

Alexandria Country Day School, a non-sectarian, K-8, independent school in Alexandria, Virginia, serving over 200 students, seeks an experienced educator to lead its Lower division spanning grades K-4.

The successful candidate will have at least a Masters Degree in a related field, will have had significant experience in the classroom and in an academic leadership role, and will demonstrate a deep knowledge of research and practice in elementary teaching and learning. A strong appreciation for diversity of all kinds and skill in meeting the needs of a diverse population of learners is essential.

Kindergarten through Fifth Grade Spanish Teacher:
Alexandria Country Day School is seeking a full-time Spanish teacher for Kindergarten through Fifth Grade for the 2017-2018 school year. Qualified candidates will possess a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in classroom teaching and a Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, teaching, or a related field. A Master’s degree is strongly preferred. A belief in and experience with Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS) and Comprehensible Input (CI) instructional methodology is beneficial.  Proficiency in differentiating instruction for a broad range of abilities is essential.   The school seeks growth-minded candidates who are skilled, creative, innovative and adept at employing technology in the classroom. A good sense of humor, a positive outlook, and an appreciation of the unique qualities of the age group are essential.

Substitute Teachers

Alexandria Country Day School is currently recruiting substitute teachers for the 2016-2017 school year. This position is on-call and as needed.

Qualified candidates must be enthusiastic, team players and have an appreciation of the unique qualities of the Kindergarten through 8th grade age group. A Bachelor’s degree and criminal background check are required. A background in education and classroom experience is preferred.
