Financial Aid

Financial Aid

Alexandria Country Day School is committed to enrolling a well qualified and diverse student body, and we make every effort to see that talented, motivated students have the opportunity to receive an ACDS education regardless of cost. Financial aid decisions are made separately from admissions decisions. Financial aid is based solely on demonstrated need as determined by the Financial Aid Committee, which relied primarily on the analysis provided by the School and Student Services for Financial Aid (SSS), as well as by ACDS' availability of funds as approved annually by the Board of Trustees.

Policy

Financial aid grants are based solely on demonstrated financial need. The Financial Aid Committee determines the amount of a grant giving consideration to the following:

  • the recommendation of School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) based on the information provided on the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS)

  • the availability of funds

  • the number of applicants for financial aid

  • adherence to designated deadlines

Financial aid grants are awarded on a one-year basis. Families who have received financial aid in the past must reapply each year. Financial aid awards are only granted to current students whose tuition accounts are up to date and whose grades and behavior are maintained at an acceptable standard.

Procedure

Families interested in applying for financial aid are asked to take the following steps:

  1. Check the appropriate box on your child's application form or contact us. The Admissions Office will send the required forms in November.

  2. Submit a Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) to School and Student Service (SSS) in Princeton, NJ by February 15, 2009. The code for Alexandria Country Day School is 1190.

  3. Submit the following materials to Alexandria Country Day School by February 15, 2009:

  • Copy of PFS sent to SSS

  • Signed copy of your 2008 Internal Revenue Form 1040 and all schedules

  • Copy of your W-2 form(s)

The Committee uses the Report of Family Contribution from SSS as a guide. The W-2 and Form 1040 give us additional information so we can make the most equitable decision based on financial need as well as availability of funds. We may request additional information when needed.

We know that financing a private education can be a difficult process, and we would like to help in any way possible. If you have any questions concerning financial aid, tuition, or payment plans, please do not hesitate to call us.
