ACDS's Green Day |
|
On April 30th, students and faculty at ACDS took steps to significantly reduce the school’s carbon footprint and do their part to stop global warming. Lights in the classrooms and offices were kept off, reusable containers were brought for snack and lunch, paper was reused and vegetables were planted in our garden. The day also served as a kick-off of a lunch composting program. Lead by the seventh grade, an all school assembly helped to inform students how these seemingly small actions, in particular when done every day, can make a big difference.

6th Grade Islamic Bazaar |
|
ACDS students were transported to the Middle East today when they visited the Islamic Bazaar created by our 6th graders. A culmination of the 6th grade’s study of Islam, the PAC’s transformation into a Bazaar included shops for rugs, tea, games and storytelling. Student and faculty visitors to the Bazaar were given dirhams with which to purchase goods as they interacted with the 6th grade merchants. Even Mr. Baytosh got in on the action and managed to get a great deal on a rug! (Click on the title above to see pictures.) |

Students have learned and heard about various ways that their “world” will be different in the future. Click above to see pictures of The 2013 Festival of Learning: Climate Change. |
