Gifts to the Annual Fund are the foundation of all fundraising efforts at Alexandria Country Day School. As an independent school, ACDS does not receive funding from federal, state or local governments. In order to fund its annual budgetary needs, it relies almost exclusively on two sources:
- Tuition, which is not tax deductible, provides 91% of the total budget.
- The Annual Fund, which bridges the gap between tuition and the actual cost of educating each child. Contributions to the Annual Fund are 100% tax-deductible.
Being relatively young in age and small in size means that ACDS relies on its community including: parents, alumni parents, grandparents, alumni and friends to give generously in order to provide the outstanding educational programs you expect for your child. ACDS is fortunate to have families and friends who give generously of their time, talents and resources each year.
Every dollar donated to the Annual Fund is spent during the school year in which it is received. Money from the Fund is used to sustain programs such as the Festival of Learning, the iPad initiative, faculty professional development, facility maintenance, and even buses for field trips.
At the conclusion of every fiscal year, 1% of the total dollars raised through that year’s Annual Fund is transferred to the School’s endowment.
